ADMINISTRATIVE REGISTRATUR: Dispatches from the Austrian Minister in Washington to the Ministry of Foreign Affaires at Vienna; special convolutes on Austrian emigration to the United States, on Italian emigration to the United States, and on extradition; and papers on the protection of foreign nationals from general conscription in the United States; and negotiations on a naturalization convention (1861-1870). Prince Clemens von Metternich was born in 1773 in Koblenz, Germany. The son of a count of the Holy Roman Empire and a countess of Austria, Metternich became an influential Austrian politician and diplomat. His legacy is two-fold.
